Local Attractions:
After travelling to Maenporth for your holiday, you may not wish to venture out very far on your first day. The below suggestions either involve a short 10 min journey in the car, or better still, not using the car at all!
Visit a nearby Gardens:
Set in a valley of 26 acres with its own private beach, Trebah gardens is a short journey from the Estate near Mawnan Smith. The sub-tropical gardens are popular with our guests with plenty to see in all four seasons, it is well worth a visit.
The national trust gardens of Glendurgan are a stone through away from Trebah. Another sub-tropical garden with the impressive Laurel Maze! At the bottom of the valley is the unspoilt hamlet of Durgan and a small beach. Here you can borrow fishing nets and buckets to save you carrying your own!
Pop into Falmouth:
A short drive will take you into the town of Falmouth where you will find several local independent shops as well as some more well-known names. There are numerous restaurants and cafes in the town to cater for all tastes.
The Maritime Museum is right on the harbourside and is a great place to stroll around. The exhibits change frequently and there is always something new to see! At the moment (summer 2022) there is a monster of the deep exhibition and you can also learn about the history of the Coastguard to mark their 200 year anniversary. There is also a great café with views out over the harbour!!
Visit the Beach:
A short walk down the hill (and a slightly longer walk up it feels!!!), is one of the best beaches in Cornwall. Here you can hire kayaks or paddleboards from Falmouth Surf School & Watersports and enjoy food from the Life’s a beach café on the sand.
Relax on site:
With a lovely 15 metre swimming pool, tennis courts, woodland walks and a children’s play park, many of our guests choose to stay on-site and relax here. There are plenty of area to sit and sun bath around the Estate and there is also a BBQ area by the leisure centre for you to use if you wish.
